ShootMatrix / Performance analytics

Shooting performance analytics, explained simply.

A score tells you how a session ended. Analytics tell you why. Three numbers do most of the work: group size, mean point of impact and consistency.

Group size

Group size is how tightly your shots cluster, regardless of where the cluster is. A small group means a repeatable shot process. If your group is tight but off-centre, your technique is steady and your sights or hold need adjusting. If it is wide, the process itself is the problem.

MPI: mean point of impact

MPI is the centre of your group: the average position of your shots. It shows bias. A group that sits low-left every session is not bad luck, it is a pattern you can fix with sights, grip or release.

Consistency

Consistency is how little your results move from shot to shot and from session to session. Elite shooters are not just better on their best day, they are better on their worst day. Tracking consistency across a season shows whether you are actually getting more reliable.

Questions

What is MPI in shooting?
MPI is the mean point of impact: the average position of a group of shots. It shows whether your shots sit consistently away from the centre.
What does group size tell you?
How repeatable your shot process is. A tight group means a steady process, even if it is off-centre. A wide group points to technique or focus rather than sight settings.
How do I measure shooting consistency?
Compare results across many shots and many sessions of the same event. A shooter diary with performance analytics, such as ShootMatrix, helps you see the trend.
